The Bio
Djilas Gómez was born in the city of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He started his visual arts training and education at 11 years old in the visual arts school - Escuela Nacional de Artes Visuales (ENAV) - in Santo Domingo and continues his education to this day. He got his bachelor’s degree on Advertising with a focus on Illustration from - Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD). He graduated in Painting and Illustration from - Altos de Chavón, La Escuela De Diseño (School of Design) - and completed his MFA degree in painting at the - New York Academy of Art (NYAA).
He stepped away from the arts for a few years due to responsibilities in life and work. Upon realizing that his true passion in visual arts was the only fulfilling work that brought direction to his life, he returned with more passion and dedication in order to bring beauty back into his heart and mind. He has participated and continues to do so uninterrupted in collective expositions in the Dominican Republic and the United States, primarily focused in NYC, the city of big dreams.
